Bucking Back Acne

Should you consider yourself lucky because you do not have acne on your face?

Well, think twice because acne does not persist only on the face! Acne can occur in any parts of the body. However, in most cases, acne occurs on the face and back.

Acne on the back is likewise known as the “bacne”. Acne on the back is more dominant. Compared to the acne found on the face, bacne is more difficult to treat. Treating the back acne is a lot tougher than the skin found on the face. In addition, there are more sebaceous glands found on the back.

Acne on the back is often a severe case. The kinds of acne on the back are the nodules and the cysts. Topical management is not enough treatment for back acne.

Some say that for a mild to moderate acne, glycolic acid is an effective treating agent. Aside from that, Alpha hydroxy acid is a good agent too. It helps dry the acne.

However, aside from those chemicals, treatment routines also help lessen the acne problem.

Washing the affected area is advised. A mild cleanser should be used. It should be a dermatologically accepted and approved cleanser to ensure that the chemicals present in the cleanser is within the right pH. Strong and harsh chemicals are detrimental for the skin. These chemicals might cause skin dying. Harsh chemicals can also irritate the skin that can worsen the acne problem.

Using moisturizer is also advised. Moisturizers help to trap the water, preventing it from excessive loss. However, you should take note that it should not be applied in oily areas. Moisturizers can help but misuse of moisturizer can also exacerbate the back acne problem.

It is also advised not to use back packs when in the process of treatment. Using back packs irritates the portions like the upper shoulders and the back itself as it rubs on those portions. In addition, back packs do not give space for the back’s skin to breathe.

Back acne is really hard to treat, considering that you cannot reach your back. You really need someone to help your with your treating regimes.

Always remember that the skin on the back is not the same with the skin on the face. Skin on the face is more sensitive compared to the skin on the back which is thicker and tougher. However, as what mentioned a while ago, the number of sebaceous gland producing oil is greater in terms of numbers on the back compared to the face; therefore, the back part is oilier compared to the face. In addition, when we are sweating, there are more sweats produced in the back. Proper topical medication is required. Note that it does not mean that the medication used on the face can also be used in the back. Appropriate treatment should be utilized.

Watch out! Fabric of the clothes used also affects. Use cotton fabrics as recommended. Using synthetic fabrics and wools are discouraged because of their irritating effects on the skin.
